Tip
/ Ring Signal Simulator - PSTN EmulationDescription:
The TRsSim software works in conjunction with a AI-7280 or
AI-80 to
provide a wide range of telephony testing capability. Its main
features include:
Type I and Type II Caller ID signal generation
SMS (Short Message Service) support
DTMF & Pulse dialing analysis
Network tone, DTMF, and MF tone generation
Programmable ring generator
Remote control via a TCP/IP link (click
here for more information)
Using the AI-7280 or AI-80 as a signal generator
and analyzer, the TRsSim software supports a variety of testing
functions. It can measure a telephone's DTMF signal
characteristics, pulse dialing make/break timing, and line flash
duration. In addition it generates various network tones (dial,
ring back, busy, stutter dial) and ringing patterns with programmable
frequency, level, and cadence. Both Type I (on-hook) and Type II
(off-hook) Caller ID is supported using either FSK data modulation or
DTMF data transmission.
In addition, as an optional component,
the TRsSim software supports SM-SC (short message service center)
emulation. Short Message Service (SMS) is the ability to send and receive text messages between various devices. Terminal equipment supporting SMS use the PSTN to establish a voice path with a Short Message Service Center (SM-SC). Once a connection between the TE and SM-SC is made, text messages
are sent or received. The TRsSim software emulates a SM-SC for TE testing purposes. It can either receive calls from the TE
for submission of text messages, or call the TE for delivery of text messages.

Features & Capabilities:
The TRsSim software provides a large number of features and testing
capabilities. However not all of them may be available due to hardware constraints while others are only available as an optional
software component. The following links provide more detailed
information on the software capabilities:

Support for the SM Service Center Emulation is an optional component to the TRsSim software. It allows for testing of a SMS capable TE to either the ETSI ES 201 912 protocol 1 or protocol 2 standard.
Short messages are both received by the SM-TE or can be
sent to the SM-TE. Designed as a testing tool, the
software allows complete control over the DLL (data link
layer) and TL (transfer layer) messages for exception
condition testing. |

Support
for the Advanced Caller ID functions is an optional
component to the TRsSim software. It expands the basic
Caller ID capabilities to include more flexible control
over the physical layer settings (FSK, DTMF,
impairments, signaling & timing) and message layer
settings (channel seizure bits, mark bits, message
encoding, checksum encoding, mark out bits). |
